​Job Description​

As the Brewery Packaging Technology Course Director, you'll provide the leadership, technical knowledge, and experience to help mold the next generation of brewing technicians. The Course Director is responsible for the overall management and execution of both the virtual and on-site components of the Packaging Technology Course. This role requires overseeing all content development,​ coordinating with speakers, and ensuring a seamless learning experience for participants.​ The goal of this course is to connect Master Brewers students with industry experts and peers in a manner that is engaging, respectful of diverse student needs and backgrounds, and meets the learning objectives.

The course director works with the program manager to organize and direct six weeks of virtual content and one week of in-person instruction, tours, an​d demonstrations. The virtual part of the course consists of pre-recorded lessons and assignments ​from subject matter experts, a discussion board on the Master Brewers Community site, and a weekly three-hour Zoom Q&A/ discussion session featuring the subject matter experts from that week. ​Time Commitment​ & Compensation

Course Schedule

• Virtual:  May – July 2026 (exact dates to be determined)
• ​​In-Person: ​​ July – August 2026 (week in residence to be determined)
  
  

Director Time Commitment

• ​Four hours per week on average (beginning six to eight months prior to the course)​
  
• One-week onsite time for the​ in-person part of the course

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Course Planning & Preparation

• Identify, recruit, and coordinate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for both the virtual and in-person sessions.
  
• Assist SMEs in curating course content to align with learning objectives.
  
• Collaborate with staff during regular pre-course meetings to align with expectations and logistics.
  
• Oversee the creation of course materials, schedules, and online resources.
  
• Teach & lead student discussion on any of the topics if an instructor is not able to attend live sessions.
  
• Identify real-world scenarios commonly experienced in the brewing industry and​ create multiple case studies or capstone projects for students to investigate and present solutions as a requirement for certificate.
  
• Interact with students as a mentor and connect students with SMEs, networking contacts, and resources to help them along their professional path.​​
  

Course Execution & Moderation

• Lead and facilitate course activities, discussions, and Q&A sessions.
  
• Moderate virtual sessions ensuring engagement and adherence to schedule.
• Manage on-site logistics, including speaker coordination and participant support.
• Help troubleshoot any issues that arise to ensure a seamless learning experience.​

​Post-Course Evaluation & Follow-Up

• ​Review post course surveys and work with SMEs for future improvements.
  
• Work with stakeholders to implement improvements for future iterations.
  

Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years experience in brewery and packaging
  
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.​
• Experience in course management or education a plus.
  
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing needs.
  
• Proficiency in virtual learning platforms

Additional Requirements

• Membership is in good standing with the Master Brewers Association of the Americas.
  
• Strict adherence to Master Brewers Code of Conduct.
  
• Must be available for course planning, live virtual sessions, and on-site for the full duration of the in-person course.

The Master Brewers Association of the Americas is a 501(c)3 non-profit professional, scientific organization dedicated to advancing, supporting, and encouraging scientific research into brewing malt beverages and related industries and making that research available to the public through conferences, discussion groups, journals, publications, and seminars.​
